3: Adding an attachment as a link

The mailing system does not support attachments, however links to documents can be sent instead. This is common with the majority of mailing list systems.

Start composing your email as per the previous help guide:

Once you reach the stage of typing your email content, pause and follow the following instructions.

1 Either save your newsletter progress, or open another instance of the comms site in another tab on your browser: https://comms.suttonscouts.org.uk/wp-admin

2: Download or obtain your attachment and save in a location on your computer, this will be used in the steps below, so please remember the location you saved the file.

3: In the Newsletter website select "Media / Library" from the left menu

4: Either select an existing attachment or click "Add New"
(If you are using an existing attachment, jump to step 6 below)

5: The upload files dialogue will appear, upload the file from the location you saved your attachment in from step 2 above.

6: Once your attachment has been uploaded it is ready to add to your newsletter, click on your desired attachment and the screen below will appear. Click on "Copy URL to clipboard":

7: Return to your Newsletter (Select from Newsletter / Newsletters, left menu) or go to the tab you left open in step 1.

Select some test that you would like to user to click on to download the attainment, in this case "TEST"

8: The click on the "link" icon:

9: The follow box will appear. Paste the URL you saved in section 6 above in the top box, the easiest way is to right click in box and select paste. (Or click in box and hold "ctrl" button and hit "v").
Then click "OK"

10: Your text will change colour, indicating a link.
All Done, continue editing your newsletter.
