Frequently Asked Question
Role based Microsoft 365 Accounts
Last Updated 3 years ago
Some users have roles that are likely to permanent, however the person performing that role will change over a period of time.
When a user is allocated a role based account, their login will be based on their name and the email address will be role based.
An example of this would be the District Secretary.
To work through this example, let's assume John Smith is currently perfuming the role of District Secretary.
John would login to M365 using his username: john.smith@suttonscouts.org.uk
Any email he sends or receives would be to or from secretary@suttonscouts.org.uk
(Any emails sent to john.smith@suttonscots.org.uk would also be received).
When John steps down from his role and someone else takes over EG Jane Smith.
Jane will be given the login jane.smith@suttonscouts.org.uk and secretary@suttonscouts.org.uk will be moved to Jane's account.
